The Active Lifestyle Puzzle
Monday we were all off celebrating Labor Day. So I think today is a good day to talk about what fitness and nutrition look like when we put all the pieces together in the context of achieving the active lifestyle.
Let’s start with sleep. We need optimum sleep and rest in much the same way we need just the right amount of healthy food and exercise. Not too much and definitely not too little sleep, quiet time, or napping. Did you know that adequate sleep helps your body maintain a healthy balance of the hormones which signal hunger and satiety? Deep sleep also allows your muscles to recover from a hard workout – adequate rest is critical to achieving fat loss and gaining muscle mass!
So as another day leading the active lifestyle winds down, take stock of your day over dinner - the last food you will eat for 8-10 hours! Make time to read and exercise your brain as you prepare to do it all over again tomorrow, but beginning with a good night’s sleep tonight.
